1.) The River Cam. After visiting this beautiful, calm place you’ll be shouting “we love dates” at the top of your lungs and won’t be able to get enough of dating and will refuse to believe Cambridge dating is hard.
In Cambridge, you can find the river everywhere! There are some beautiful spots along the river bank for just sitting and enjoying some quality time together. Sit and watch all the boats go by.
To reach the best picnic spots, head to Silver Street in the west of the city or Bridge Street in the north.
The Anchor pub at Silver Street bridge is a good place to enjoy an al fresco drink overlooking the water.
2.) Midsummer House. This is a two Michelin star restaurant with delectable food and can impress even the most boring person. Service, food and drinks is always five stars and will blow your mind. Intimate and relaxed inside and the food is completely delicious. Plus, its set on Midsummer Common right beside the river is beautiful.
3.) King’s College Chapel. King’s College is Cambridge’s historic Gothic landmark. The chapel is breathtaking and so beautiful, with the world’s largest fan ceiling and amazing stained glass windows. The college also has lovely grounds that stretch down to the river. You can explore this entire area together with your date.
Tip: Coincide your visit with Evensong and be swept away by the amazing music from students and choir boys. Hours: 5pm Monday – Saturday, and 10am and 3pm Sunday.
4.) Botanic Gardens. This is a beautiful date idea when the weather is nice and warm. You can discover plants from all over the world in 40 acres of beautiful gardens and glasshouses. The central location makes it easy to go for a quick walk around and sniff the flowers before seeing a movie.
5.) Linton Zoo. If you’re an animal lover and would like to see wild animals up close and personal, then this date idea is for you. You can get to know your new date while viewing everything from lions to tarantulas. There are a bunch of rare and exotic creatures to see including tigers, lions, tapirs, lemurs, owls, parrots, giant tortoises, arantulas and many others. The zoo is always evolving bring new ideas and concepts and is set on 18 acres of gardens and woodland with plenty of picnic areas. So pack a lunch and have a fun date here.
6.) Institute of Astronomy. If you’re a geek like me, you’ll love this as a date idea. You can learn something about the universe we live in. I have been to an observatory and viewed Mars, the Moon, and the Stars…it was unbelievable! Enjoy the views of the night sky. Between that and the romantic setting, you’ll enjoy a date that is out of this world….literally.
